She took a NAP!

So I decided to force the nap thing today. We talked about how she was going to go and take a rest and then at 2:30 I took her to her bed and left. We have always followed the 10 minutes of crying rule, so I started the timer. She cried and fussed, I even heard her come to the door and try to open it a couple of times....but in under 10 minutes there was silence!!! I have to say now is when I would like the video monitor. I just went in to check on her and see where she ended up sleeping, surprised to see she was in her bed and the room wasn't torn apart!

I also let her cry herself to sleep last night. I want her to get used to going to bed alone, and figured its better to get the hard part done before baby brother arrives.

Please save your hate mail, I know I am doing what is right for Audrey and me :)

Good for you & Audrey! That is quite an accomplishment and we are proud of both of you. The only people you could possible get hate mail from are people who aren't parents. lol The rest of us understand!
Love ya!

I just went through this with Grant. Its awful so I know how you feel but in the long run you will thank yourself. Usually the first night is the worst then after that it gets easier.
Everyone in my house sleeps better now so hang in there!

Yeah Stacie we did this when Audrey was around 5 months old in the crib also. Round 2 in the big bed is a little more interesting. It would be fun to get the video monitor and see what she is up to in there :) She always ends up sleeping in the bed at least and hasn't torn apart the room yet...Greg is the softy, I have to keep him from going in and getting her :)

A trick that Hope came up with that worked very well with all three of ours was to start some lullaby music and tell them that they don't have to go to sleep but they have to stay in bed for X number of songs. If they get up too early, it all starts again. Vary the number and music but gradually increase the time.

You are so brave to put Audrey in the big girl bed. Charlie hoists his leg up on the crib rail (bumper pads removed) but I don't think he realizes he can get out yet. I'm so nervous about the big boy bed because I don't think he will stay in it! You are doing so well and I think this is great you are doing it now before baby brother gets here. Audrey will be a great big sister.
